Ok, I am picking up my new 125 gallon tank on Sunday :headbang2and I am excited. But I am still deciding on filtration. I have a Magnum 350 deluxe that I can use along with a emperor 350 bio wheel. Or I can use the Magnum and a 30 gallon acrylic wet dry sump that I already have. The only thing is I would have to buy a new pump for the Wet Dry, and bio media. I am trying to do this the most effective way without spending too much more. I am thinking the Wet dry is the most effective way but is it really needed? What would you all use?

I will be keeping South american cichlids in this tank. There will be a Sand substrate.

Go for the wet and dry it will save you money on the long run.

Cheapest would be to stay with the Hob and canister until you can't control the the water chemistry then go with the sump (save your milk money in the meantime).

Use the return from the Magnum 350 low in the tank to keep the detritus suspended in the water column.

A 2x - 3x turnover for the sump should do you if you keep the canister later.

Scrubbies are the best bang for the buck!

If you can't find them, contact zennzo on here.

If you can pick up (or have some) bio-balls mix them in to fill the gaps.

Dr joe always beats me to it. (Thank god for the guy he is a big help)
It depends on how much you need to save really. I would prefer to get the sump set up for cycling and what not (fill with scrubbies a definite budget bang for the buck) If this is not feasible use the magnum and emperor just make sure theres some bio media in them im not sure how the magnum is as far as bio media I have heard some don't have bio. Best of luck to you!
