So my oscar jumped out and i am looking for replacement fish. I have it down to 3. My stock is 2 red hook silver dollars, 4 regular silver dollars, an 8 inch sailfin pleco. I want to know 5 things that will help me decide.
-Growth rate
-Diet
-compatability with current stock
-How many i can keep with current stock
-Can i keep 2 of them together

The candidates are a Green Texas Cichlid, Trimac, And Amphilophus Lyonsi.

Do you have any more info on these? how big do they get? Where could i get some?

12" max, aggressive, carnivorous, ask pet stores to order one for you or get one from someone on here breeding them, maybe they've got em online

remember that pic is red tiger mota and not regular mota

man what about one of these? ex cichlasoma ornatus

I had a chuckle when I saw this, because my stock list is almost the same. I have a 60x18x26 120g tank. My occupants are: Midas x1, Red Hook Silver Dollars x5, Pleco x1 / L001 Pterygoplichthys joselimaianus (a smaller type sailfin, apx 12" when full grown).

In my experience it works out well except for a few issues. The Midas when in a mood will chase everyone relentlessly. This happens only 5% of the time otherwise he is pretty mild with everyone. The thing is that they were all raised together from a very small stage which I think is the key. Then again I think my Midas is pretty mellow compared to some.

The other issue is actually funny; its the Pleco. When food hits the water he gets very aggressive and will attack the Red hooks and the Midas! Of course my Midas does not put up with this so my Pleco ends up with torn fins all the time from fighting the Midas.

I have a pretty ideal situation; My fish are not that aggressive with each other and everyone gets along 95% of the time. But part of me wants to replace the Midas with a wild caught Oscar and see if it is even more easy going. Knowing my luck I would end up with some bizarro, psycho killer fish and would regret getting rid of the Midas.
