Hi,

I just set up a 180 gallon freshwater with just an FX5 for filtration. Are there any particular fish communities that this set up would be sufficient for? I'm just wondering if my only option is a general freshwater community with angelfishes, catfishes and such. I've been told I would need an actual sump tank to do a cichlid tank... I would just like to plan out my tank before I just start buying fishes.

Thank you!
Morgan

a swarm of gulper catfish! Or a swarm of bumble bee catfish or a lima shovelnose or a couple columbian cats or something you like that I didnt say!

There are many choices to fill up that 180. You can go with a discus commute, piranha commute, and soo many others just do alittle research on the fish you really want. What type of fish do you like? Ones that grow big? Or a group of the same species?

If i were you, i would have a single jardini arowana since a 180 fits the the recommended minimum, and depending on the personality of the jardini, if its not as aggressive i would try adding some bottom dwellers.

U can do cichlids without a sump easily 1 fx5 is enough. Do some oscars or mayan cichlids, or german blue rams in a hudge planted tank!

That's not true. If you like cichlids, you have a good tank to keep them in.

What kind of fish do you have in mind? A 180 gives you lots of options.

Give us a idea well have plenty of choices for you.

Like you like cichlids, catfish, spiney eels, anything will help you out!

I like both South American and African cichlids, but I would like to stick with fish (and plants) from the same area... The biggest tank I've ever kept is a 55 gallon. Thanks for the ideas.

Look into bichirs :)
