I'm getting ready to restock my flake fish food, what type is the best? I have mainly have cichlids and plecos. I am wanting to buy in 5-10 pounds. curious on what others think. I have checked into Omega One and O.S.I

Don't buy flake food, use pellets instead. NLS, Omega One, and Hikari all make relatively good pellets. If you get Hikari, I'd be sure to get the carnivore stuff, since the cichlid pellets (Gold, BioGold, etc.) are mostly just fillers.

so if I went with Omega One Bulk Super Color Pellets or is the Omega One Bulk Cichlid Pellets the same? I just want to see a difference in my fish. I know that they promote the super color but is the price difference worth it?

I've not really researched the Omega One pellets as much as the Hikari pellets. Sorry I can't help with that particular question.

However, Petco sells NLS, and I've found great success with it so far.

I'd compare the price of a 2.27kg/5lbs bucket of New Life Spectrum with the price of the same weight of Omega One and go with whichever's cheaper. One point worth considering is Omega One pellets tend to float (forever) whereas NLS pellets tend to sink, so one or the other may be more appropriate depending on the preferences of your fish.

You can order NLS in 5lb tubs, shipped to your door. Look up Pharaoh on here to order some.

My brother and I have bought several tubs from him.

I used Omega One Super Color flake once a day and my pellet mix twice a day on my African tanks.

So, the make-your-own-food queen has switched to the NLS camp? ;)

No, I still make my own food. That's all my tropicals and goldfish eat. The predators prefer whole food items, and the gelfood makes a mess when they try to eat it. If I don't have time to cut up small pieces of fish, I'll just throw in some NLS pellets. Took them a few days, but they got used to it. My eels and toadfish still refuse to eat anything other than fish fillets, shrimp, krill, etc. though.

The eel was eager to bite the Hikari carnivore pellets, but spit it back out, I guess due to the texture.
