I'm getting a new tank, 120g (48"x24"x25") or 125g (72"x18"x23"). I'm still holding out the possibility that I may be able to purchase a 180g but if I do go with one of the two I'd like to hear some input.

I'm planning on getting a male and female Jaguar cichild around 3" each and raising the pair in the tank alone. My question is if you were setting up this tank would you prefer the 24" depth of the 120g or the 72" length of the 125g? I see the benefits of both, I'm only looking for what you would pick.

I'm leaning more towards the 120g for the deeper front to back turn around space. Obviously 180g would be choice but considering this may not happen I'll sit back and hear anyone out.

Petsmart has that 150 that's 48x24x30

Thanks for the input everyone. I'm going to see if I can swing the 180g even if it takes a bit longer.

I am partial to length. But i am not sure one tank with have any advantage over the other. So it comes down to preference.

Great call on the 180. But for the originally question, here's my mind set (it may help in the future). The 120 had a foot print of 8 sq ft, where as the 125 had 9 sq ft. This in my mind makes it hands down better. Also, anything that "needs" that 2' front to back, is gonna need more than 4' of length. Again, great call with the 180, you won't regret it. Let's see some pics!
