Looking to try some new food.. I keep mostly ca/sa cichlids but I've also got a loach collection growing. Here are my options..

krill
8 oz...$5.25
2.5 lbs...$22.00

plankton
2.5 lbs...$16.00

blood worms
8 oz...$4.50
1lb...$7.95

I already have brine shrimp, beefheart, and various frozen fish from my local grocery store. I feed most of my fish a staple of NLS, hikari gold, and some random flake. Wanting to try something new, I know krill is supposed to bring out color which is always a plus but its got quite a price difference. Right now I'm leaning towards plankton. I'm assuming my fish would enjoy all of them but I'm not positive. Can anybody tell me the benefits of these, which my fish would prefer and which one I should go with right now..?

krill- larger pices. very meaty, also "so im told" naturally enhances reddish tones in fish coloration.(probably the best choice IMO if your cichlids are larger)
plankton- never tried....
blood worms- fish go crazy for if smaller. smaller sized food.

thanks a lot.. I'm wondering a lot about the plankton.. I picked up a nice FH for cheap and have been wanting to get some krill for him because I've heard its one of the best color enhancers for them. How about the mess with all of these..?

depends...
blood worms are actually pretty clean, but only if your fish can get most of them(again, smaller fish). krill is generally pretty messy unless you only choose to feed the full pieces, but some fish like to be annoying and just shred it then spit it out. my fish personally love krill.

try hikari cichlid staple mix it with cochlid bio - gold plus

If plankton is just another way of saying smaller shrimp, like mysis or something, I might go with that, unless the cichlids are large, then krill would be my choice

Get all, Cam. Most important is vary their diet.

I like frozen bloodworms, and freeze-dried krill.
