Would work best in a 180 with the following:

1x 12" Silver Aro
1x 8.5-9" Oscar
1x 5-8" H. psittacus
1x 5-8" Crenicichla sp. (no idea which)
3x 3-5" Cichla sp.
A decent pack of small to medium loaches
A couple smaller polys

the fish would be rehomed or upgraded to a larger tank when necessary due to aggression, or if they grow too large i.e. cichla, aros, etc.

Tank setup would be black background, sand substrate, driftwood, and floating plants
Filtration would probably be a sump, and a big canister/hob/etc.
Would also be on a constant drip system.
All other suggestions are welcome, especially towards which cichla, and crenicichla would work best.

If you acclimate them, orangehead taps could hold their own in there quite well.

btw the geos could be the first introduced to the tank if needed

Being one of the smaller Geophagus varieties I wouldn't recommend them as tankmates for a silver arowana (which is going to out-grow your 180g in a couple of years BTW).

If you're talking about Geophagus sensu-stricto then I'd recommend altifrons as they're one of the bigger and hardier species.

I know the aro will outgrow the tank, I appreciate your concern, that's why I specified that it will be upgraded or rehomed when necessary.

If by sensu stricto you mean that only species in the geophagus genus, then no, all eartheater suggestions are welcome.

I like the altifrons too, they're not as nice as the orange heads, but i like them regardless, around how fast do they grow per month?

My orangehead taps were 8" when they kicked the bucket and hella mean, which was why I thought they might be nice. Juruparis (spelling?) I've not had experience with but I've been told get medium-large and can hold their own.
