Which heater controller would I use?

I am not sure, but I do know that you can save a HUGE bundle of cash (like the little stack of bills with big eyes on the geico commercials) by getting the ones you have to wire yourself.

If I wanted the ability to run 4-6 250W stealth heaters which of these controllers would I need?

The purpose of such a controller for aquarium use is to prevent a disfunctional heater from cooking your fish. Once the preset temp maximum is reached within the tank, the controller shuts off current to the heater. Let's say that you wanted to use 4x250 watt heaters and you did not want the tank temp to exceed 78F. First, you would have to find a temp controller with a capacity of 1,000 watts. Second, you would attach an extension cord to the outlet of the controller that would allow all four heaters to be connected. Then, you would set the max temp on the controller to 78F, make sure the probe is inserted in the aquarium, etc. If you're going to do this, I would recommend the one from VWR Scientific. I think it's www.VWRSP.com. If you can't locate it, let me know and I'l give you a catalog number. Finally, I really don't think you'll have to resort to the use of a controller with the Stealth heaters, but if you want to, this is my recommendation.

You can also look at a controler like the reefkeeper line. I dont have one yet (ordered the RKE friday) but it does a lot of other cool things but it also can control yoiur heaters. Depending on the one you get you can also have fans come on if the tank hits a set temp and also start shutting off lights (if they heat the water) if the water temp hits yet a higher temp. They have striped down versions all the way up. The top one could email you if the temp gets too high...not to mention water alarms with the ability to shut off the pump...water top off control...lights...fans...datalog....moon light's (even with lunar cycle)...feed timers where it shuts the main pump off for 0-99 min so you can feed and wont forget to turn the pump back on...and so on.
