Which heater is preffered, Rena Smartheater or ViaAqua titanum?.

I think you will find very mixed reviews. I would probably go with the titanium. But there is nothing wrong with getting the Rena.
I have both brands currently running in my tanks. Both are good products and I haven't had any trouble with either of them. I like external controllers because you can adjust the temp from outside the tank... A small convenience.
They are all very good heaters. Ryan you made a good point about the Eheim heaters they have to be tops.
I haven't got it yet but i plan to get the ViaAqua titanum. It's going in a sump so no one will see it, and it's less likly to break then glass. Aslo the remote temp dial is cool.
My choice would depend on the setup.
If you are using a canister filter then the Rena would become the intake and make for a less cluttered tank.
If I had a sump then the other heater would be my choice.
