well I just came across 2 free 20g tanks. A 20 long and a reg 20. The 20 long i am going to use for a diy trickle filter, the reg 20 im goin to put a pair of convicts in, which have just laid eggs yesterday in my 90g and need their own space. The only thing I need to put them in is a heater. The only heaters ive had experience with is the marineland stealth pro 300w heater. This has been a good heater and I was thinking abou tgetting another for the 20. The thing is the stealth pro rated for a 25g tank is 19.99, the heater rated for the 30g, 45g, and 55g is the same price....21.99. So should i get the heater for the 55 and put in my 20?

Also i saw that the jager 100w heater is 21.99, ive heard these are good heaters, should i try one of these?

But, would buying a heater rated for a 55g be ok for use on a 20g tank since the 25g and the 55g heaters are the same price? I just saw that the jager isnt 100 percent submersible, i dont like that idea.

it is 100% submersible. they have to put the water line on by law in order to get UL/CSA approval in north america.

so no worries there.

for a 20g tank, a 50w heater should be fine. if your room is cool or gets cold in winter, you can get the 100w size if you want.

you don't want to go too high of a wattage because on the off chance anything ever happened, it will cook your fish fast and you may not notice in time to save them.

hope this helps!

allright man, thats what i mainly need to know. I think ill give jager a try this time....why not, same price...ordering now:)
