upgrading my freshwater cichlid tank. currently have glass but i have been looking into getting acrylic instead. they just seem alot clearer.
does anyone have advice or personal opinions on the two?
let me know what you think is better:D
thanks!

For smaller tanks, i.e. 180 and smaller, I would go glass. Anything bigger acrylic because of weight when moving.

I would go with glass at any gallon if possible. You can never scratch the glass unless you really just try to. The only thing about glass is the weight. The bigger the tank, the heavier it's going to be. Next time you look at a big tank, like in water exhibits or museums, you will see that glass is used. Just my thoughts, The Doctor.

Glass. Might be heavier but very hard to scratxh. Someone on here got a brand new huge (700or so gallons I think) tank and went to clean in a few days after new and scratched it to hell. Plus some fish badly scratch them so you can't keep some fish. Glass always

Have you ever had an acrylic tank?

I have acrylic it does scratch, but repair is possible; you can mess it up if you don't know what your doing. I will never own anything but acrylic, I have crazing damage to my tank do to poor stand construction that would have destroyed a glass tank.

I have glass tank that's scratched or wait make that 3 that are scratched, I have 2 acrylic tanks that are scratched, of those 5 tanks 2 can be restored to factory shin.

my acrylic is still crystal clear I know a marine shop that has a huge 5 foot by 12 foot reef this tank is super clear.

I would get glass at the sub 180 gallon mark so that I could save cash.

Biggest I go in glass is maybe 125g. Bigger then that is just to scary for me. Could you imagine the water damage from a 300 gallon tank in your home. Especially if you got young kids like I had. Kids like to bang toys on things.

 this is why I will be adding an extra .5" acrylic viewing window on the out side of my room divider I will be building. Eliana Loves to bang toys on the tv, I have two rowdy dogs that knock things over.
