I'm seriously considering downsizing from a 240g and a 75g FOWLR Saltwater tanks to just a 180g reef type tank.

I want to give my DME a bigger tank while easing my cleaning load and watch changing chores.

I've never owned an Acrylic tank and to be quiet honest I'm scared to death of all the scratch, fade, etc stories I have heard.

Can anyone give me the Pro's / Con's?

acrylic

Pros much lighter and very clear, cheaper

cons- scratches easily

glass

pros easy to clean, doesnt scratch as easy

cons at larger sized tanks has green tint, heavy, more expensive

I would say get a glass tank but starfire glass (low iron glass) so that you get the clear look of acrylic. thats my personal preference and experience doing saltwater tanks.

acrylic is usually more expensive not vise versa
and glass for that size is better. it doesnt scratch as easily and wont have a green tint at that thickness
