The problem here, where i come from is that they sell low grade juvi's and only high grade adults. I love growing out flowerhorn, but i want a monster to grow out. I fear that if i buy a big ol'Fh he wont live for that long, what do you guys think?

I'm sure the adults will live with you for 7+ years if well taken care of. The adults you see are probably a couple of years old at the most.

A lot of the newer ones have been overbred to the point that they don't live nearly as long as they should, if anything a lower quality fish would last you longer. Pretty flowerhorn are being bred over healthy ones.

IMO growing out wins every time. even when i grow out an ugly lunker...never really happens tho. i never keep fish i don't bond with and if I do i wouldn't find their ugly mugs ugly

IMO you should try growing out these juvies, they may surprise you.

Go with a flowerhorn thats 3"-4". You would be able to see the quality of it at this size, and it should live a bit longer.
