which is better? a seaclone 100 or a red sea prizm 100?which one of these protein skimmers are better?i will be using one of these on a 40 gallon breeder(fowlr) based on your opninons.thanks in advance for your replies.

I dont know anthing about the seaclone 100 but dont get a prizm skimmer, I had one and they really dont work very well. i think other people will say the same.

Both are terribly inferior skimmers. I have a SeaClown on a fish-only LFS tank with a lionfish, two tangs, and a fiji blue devil (all divided, no worries, 90g total capacity. we're nice to tangs).

It has skimmed, in three months, roughly 5ml (a teaspoon) of reddish-cyano-looking liquid. Little to no skimmate. Wouldn't even be useful on a nano.

youch!i thought the prizm was better than a seaclone, obviously not.i had one before and it was not that bad.im choosing between these two becauce i am not spending over 100 dollars for a skimmer, and thats all i came across for that price range,if anyone else could point me in the right direction i would greatly appreciate it.

nah both suck for the most part. On the plus side to prizm's you can do mods to improve there efficiency. if you can get the prizm from someone for free or whatever, go for it lol, otherwise spend the money and get something worth it

This is true.

If you must have a cheap HOB the CPR bakpak is so-so. The Aqua C Remora is supposed to be decent.

I've never use a red sea prizm....but I find most of red sea's products to be pretty inferior. So just following suit I would guess that there skimmers aren't too good as well. As for the sea clone, it will work....but not very well. I had one on a 30g and it had a lot of problems. I would suggest paying a little more and getting a quality skimmer.
