Im guessing the golder one is the male top pic and the darker one is the female. just want to be sure

Top is definately a Female but the bottom is male. It is a male because of the pattering on the fins and the speckaling on the body. People are going to say no it's a female because it has it's stripes still but the only way to definately sex that way is if the fish is around 8 to 9 inches as this is the time when the male jags mature enough to become something special and will lose the stripes. my darker of the 2 is between 8-10 inches. the golder one is around 6. heres some better side pics.
i dont know but u sure did make me wander just how big he has gotton. I figured if they were the same sex they would have butted heads but gold one hangs around the darker one and at the most the darker one flares its gills once in awile and thats it for aggression
as i watch them right now there both fighting a 4 inch grammode.
