Option 1: heating the small room the fish tank is in.

or

Option 2: heating the 25 gallon aquarium with an underwater heater.

the temp I would like the water to stablize at is 75F

option two. most aquarium heaters are designed to turn on when water temps change(like mine).

option one, your just wasting money, imo

So does anyone know how to explain to me why heating the 10 ft x 6ft room isn't more economical. it can't just be size, because when the room is in the high eighties the tank will get to the mid eighties during the summer.

well your just constantly keeping the room at a constant temp, more money, while you can just have a tank heater that turns on when heat is needed for the tank.
