which is the best filtration system for my 300gallon. i cant decide. wet/dry or a canister

i was gona go cannister cuz i alrdy purchased a 18watt sterilizer but i change my mind to wet/dry and using a submersible pump for the sterilizer inside the sump.
i just got my 300g today and placed an order on wet/dry today. so 1 wet/dry and 3 HOB is wat ima do...i think thtd be a good option.

everyone will say wet/dry is the best out there but cannister is decent if u get ehiem pro 3 for your 300g

Bro...my only advise on your 300 gal fish tank filtration is to have a sub-tank equip with three major filtration i.e. mechanical, biological & chemical.

Both

First of all, congrats on the new monster tank! Did you pick it up new or used? Quite a step up from the 50g filtration that you were asking about in an earlier thread, isn't it? :headbang2 You didn't happen pick up the craigslist 300g in Long Beach, by chance, did you?

Anyway, as with the smaller tank, it's going to be really tough to "overfilter" and I agree with the poster above- do both. Why don't you try starting out with a DIY wet/dry/sump paired with an FX5? Put a pair of Koralia Magnums in there for circulation and you should be good-to-go for nearly any reasonable combo of stock.

If you still have that 50g in your possesion, you could "sacrifice" it and make it into a sump.

Pics, please! :)

So you were lying about having a 300 or 360g in all the other threads?

Or maybe your just getting another one:confused:

Go with a wet/dry sump, like was suggested in the thread you posted a month ago with the same question, remember?

Is the 200g up and running already? What's the stock list? What the filtration?

Try searching through www.craigslist.com

MANY good deals can be found there. You may need to do a bit of patient searching, then a bit a driving, too. I believe there's a 300g acrylic tank listed for sale in Costa Mesa.

Here's a good start for a DIY wet/dry http://www.cichlid-forum.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=170795

GL with your research & post pics of the 200g!
