hello every one, did any one know , can I use regular sand for my new 180 gal salt water set up? I have another 180 gal with crush coral but I don't like that much, I have live rock in it, But want to set up 180 gal basement with bigger sump. please if you know, and what size of sump you think I will need for my new 180 gal salt set up. thanks in advance

You can use "regular" sand. Just remember that unlike coral-based substrate, it will not have the benefit of acting as buffer.

The size of the sump should be tailored to what you use it for. If you are going to keep all your equipment in it, it needs to be quite large, roughly 40 gallons to start.
