Hello,
I'm planning on what to add to my new tank. I want a loach that is active and does not hide a lot. I also want a loach that gets to a good size(over 6 inches) and I know that loaches are bottom dwellers but I want a loach that will swim at the bottom-middle part of the tank because I already have a lot of bottom dwellers. I am already planning on getting clown loaches. Does such a loach exist? thanks

What size is the tank? I don't generally recommend anyting until I know the tank size and tankmates for that matter. There are over 150 species of loaches that exist. Unfortunately, only about 10-20% are available a few times with even fewer available more often such as the clown loaches.

Clown loaches and Yo-yos get to 6" or over, and they will be quite active if you have enough of them.

The tank is a 150 gallon, it will be upgraded in 1.5 years to a 300 gallon. How many clowns and yo-yo loaches would I need to get them to be active? Thank you

Oh one more question, do yo-yo loaches have more than 1 name or are they always sold as yo-yo loaches? Thanks again

I'd get at least a dozen.
