yes, but when breeding 2 fish , you breed for the traits you are looking for. Some people breed fish and look for a recessive trait and try to bring that trait out more in their line of fish.
And some people breed for the dominant traits.....i.e. peals, color, and things like that. In breedings of Red Texas, fertile males are not to common. So in my case, the recessive gene in is fertility...So my main goal is to get a fertile male and breed him back into the line to get a higher percentage of fertile males. Once that has been done, then I work on color and pearl. The goal in breeding RT, is to get faded red fertile males in the end which will produce a high quality Red Texas batches where most will fade and be fertile.
Eventually I will end up turning recessive traits like male fertility, fading to Red, DOMINANT traits which is the final End game for me!!
