which one to get for FX5?

Go with the pond matrix as it is bigger. The smaller regular matrix can work it's way though the bottom of the baskets of the FX5. Four liters will fill two of the three baskets. I just run filter floss type material in the top basket to help keep the bio media cleaner.

One of our vendors has 8lbs of ceramic rings for 19.99. I think its affordable aquatics. The shipping was reasonable too.

I want to say that I ordered 10lbs to try and fill every basket in both FX5's, and it wasn't quite enough. Based on this, if I am right about what I originally ordered, I would say between 2-3 lbs for one FX5 basket.

In case I am wrong, you could PM Charlie and ask him. I know he has had inquiries on how many lbs are needed for an FX5.
 
There's another seller other than Charlie, the guys name is johnny roastbeef. He also has some heaters on sale too if your in the market for a new one
