ok here goes i have a 55 gal available i want to make an order with jeff rapps he has pairs of true red terrors at about 5 or 6 inches a piece. my question is how long if i could keep a pair of true red terrors in a 55 gallon or should i just get a Hemichromis frempongi from jeff at about 6 or seven inches. i am upgrading to a 125 soon and a 90 gal soon

At that size they should be alright. Get a divider ready though...im assuming just the pair in the 55g? Would love you see some pics if you do decided to get them and they should be alright in the 55g until they hit 8"-9" mark then you should be thinking about that 125g or 90g soon. :D

The pair I got from Jeff at that size lived and spawned in a 40, but then killed each other :(

LOL! And kind of sucks at the same time... :( sorry for the loss. Why didnt you divided them up or was it already a little to late?

Get the larger tank first, then get the fish.

Getting the fish at this point is like subscribing to digital cable without a television.

How long before you set up the larger tanks? I would definately go with the festae, SA cichlids rock. Although being in a tank of that size for long periods of time is asking for trouble. Thats even if they are a compatable pair. There is a chance you may get a male and a female and they hate each other. Just best to keep your options open.

you should be fine have a divider before you buy them though
