Hi everyone. I went to PetSmart today to pick up some supplies, and I noticed that they had some Pimelodus blochii. I was a little surprised that PetSmart would have such a fish, and I decided I would buy two. They all looked the same except one, which had noticable black spots. I bought it, along with a regular looking blochii. I know a blochii's pattern can differ among regional varients, but I have never seen one like this. I believe it might be a Pimelodus maculatus. What do you guys think?

Hereare some pictures of the regular blochii I bought. (Its a little washed out from stress)

And here is a picture of the Pimelodus in question. Notice the black spots.

nice pickups...not sure on id as i'm horrible at id'ing fish that look so closely to each other lol

I think it is Blochii - note the lack of (apparent) spots on the dorsal and caudal fins. A better pic of it less stressed will either confirm or refute this.

Pimelodus maculatus

i agree with the p. maculatus, i was toying with the thought of it being p. albofaciatus. But the more i look at it, the more i think it is maculatus.

doesn't look like maculatus to me. i know you don't go off pattern but they are very very different.
