Tired of looking at the tiger barbs in the upstairs 30g tank and i'm thinking of getting a solo piranha for it. I've narrowed it down to a Serrasalmus Sanchezi (red or purple spilo) or a Serrasalmus Spilopluera (gold piranha?).

Just looking to get some advice/opinions from people who have experience in keeping these fish. I'd like a pirahna thats both aggressive and somewhat active. :D

thanks.

Sanchezis is great choice for 30gallon. your other best bet are Irritan which is the smallest piranha and can be in 30gallon for a very long time. 55gallon for life IMO.

I like the purple sanchezis myself...matter of fact, I'm supposed to be going to OH one of these weekends to pick up one from Demjor. I don't remember how active he said they were though....or aggressive. ><

Marginatus could also live in a smaller tank for life but it would be better off in a 55
