I am getting tired of the bucket method on my 60G when water changing so I am thinking of using a pump to return water to the tank during water changes. I have a 5' high tank that I am on the process of setting up. As mentioned, the tank is 5' high and I will probably run about 15' total hose length from the bath tub to the tank itself. Its a 100G tank by the way.

I was wondering as to which pump you would recommend for the job. I already asked for an opinion from a fellow member and I would like to hear others. Thanks a lot.

Have you heard of a python? Im not sure if this is what you are getting at.... but your just wanting to fill your tank up after water changes without using a bucket correct? If so just get a python, it also helps with sucking the water out. It hooks up to your sink faucet and uses the suction of the water to create a vacuum and suck the water out. Then you just switch a little nozzle and fill the tank right back up, no buckets.

If possible, plumb a new faucet directly to the tank.

Not possible because I live in an apartment. The kitchen faucet is about 48' from the tank (I already measured).

I just went to home depot and found a faucet adapter for the sink then I attached a new garden hose...fills my tanks up fine...no more buckets...I use the same hose to drain the tanks as well, just hook up your gravel siphon to the garden hose, I place the outlet out my slider into the lawn...I'm done:headbang2

I already did research on the python that attaches to the faucet as well. Like I mentioned, the nearest faucet is 48' from the tank. The python will probably run at $75. I think its a bit impractical to run a 48' hose all over the apartment for water changes. I am thinking more of 15' or less from the tank and toilet which is in the room itself.

so your plan is to fill the bath tub, then use a pump to pump from the tub to the tank. Just get an adaptor so you can attach a hose directly to the bathtub spigot.

Well the plan is to have a 5-gallon bucket by the bath tub and add de-chlorinator while the bucket is filling so that it can be treated. I will not use the bath tub as the container for the water going back to the tank because I don't want to risk any type of soap residue going back to the tank.

Thanks for the input. What about water treatment though?

Dont you have a faucet in your bathroom by your bathtub? And the python only cost me like $25 from petsmart...
