I recently posted about getting my first ray...after finding out how much a Leo cost I have decided to go with a different ray as a first ray. A Moto was suggested and I like them but think they get bigger than my tank will support. Ultimately I would love to have two rays but will settle on one if I can keep it and it will be happy. My tank is 280 gallons 72X30X30 so what ray or pair of rays would most likely be happy in a tank this size. Although I would love to upgrade to a larger tank eventually this will never happen. My wife allowed me to build the tank into the wall and it's the biggest tank I could get in the space provided. I just don't have any room for anything bigger.

scobina are basically impossible to get....hystrix or retics would be your best bet....

although they are harder and more expensive. hystrix are much better looking than retics. 72X30 should be big enough to keep a pair for life.

I agree. IF you can get a retic that was transported well and is eating alright, it should be cake to have your ray looking beautiful and happy in no time. Retics are a bit finicky with food, but beyond that they are easy as anything else. Clean water, food, space.

try a teacup stingray

a teacup is not a type of ray, its just a name wholesalers give cheap young rays because thier disks look like tea cups, so you never know what you get
