hmm i know lots of folks that have rays with there plecos and never had a problem. if a ray can fit my 13" scarlet in his mouth then he can have a snack but i dont see that happaning.

thanks for your replys guys!

Joe :D

you will definately lose alot of eartheaters, Even if you don't think he'll be able to fit them in his mouth eventually they will get killed or eaten. Plecos sometimes work sometimes they don't kepp a close eye on it.

I have a pleco in with my rays. They could swallow him in one bite. It just depends on the fish. I also have a 8in fish in with my motoros and they could kill him if they wanted but they haven't even attempted before.

If you want to go for a ray go for one of the smaller sp. like a histrix or retic, or one of the other small sp. They should be fine for life in your 240.

I have a retic and she has fish in her tank she could slurp up like a worm, and I have seen some big histrix withe many tankmates and they leave them alone.

So I say give it a shot, just keep an eye on everyone.

awsome thansk for your reply! arent the smaller , teacup type rays more prone to infections depending on water conditions?

I don't think so really. As long as you take good care of you water and buy a healthy one you shouldn't have any problems. If you don't want to deal with a small one just find one at a bigger size. I have a 5.5 in retic and she is doing fine.

The only reason you really her that they are so much more sensitive is becuse the are imported so much and aren't taken very good care of, so skinny sick ones in all the time. I don't find my retic an less hardy then my motoros.
