Gravel or sand? or what is best? im loooking to Block half my tank off which is Gravel (Make a little wall. An if sand is best for keeping plants try and put it in. Thanks.

Flourite.

Or.

Sand.

Just make sure you have a thick enough bed if you do sand. PITA to get the plants rooted.

Sand

Hmm i have a plant that doing swell in a un CO2 tank and rock grav bottum. is 2 inch of sand enuff? my stand kinda was this little lip on it that hides the buttom part of the tank trim to make it look more slick. So i was thinking of 2 inch of sand on one side and get some mid size rocks and TRy my best to keep the 2 apart from cleaning.

never heard of Flourite. Is it heavly enuff not to get sucked up durning cleaning?

An the plants i wanting to use are Grassy types. Along with drift wood so lets base around that.

i googled Flourite its like crystals or something Rock like. Im i right? or is it wrong?

Fluorite is my personal preference. Eco complete is good stuff, but I don't have as good of a growth rate in eco as with fluorite. Laterite is another option as well, and if you have the money, ADA aquasoil is supposed to be really good. 2" is very shallow, and I would recommend an absolute minimum of at least 3" for most plants. With root feeding plants, such as echinodorus species, this should go up to at least 5". Fluorite is a clay based gravel, and will not get sucked up when doing a gravel vacing, but in a planted tank, gravel vacing isn't needed, unless it is sparsely planted.
