I am going to use the 8ft size of which ever proves to be the best when my research is over.

Jacksonville Koi:
http://www.jacksonvillekoisupply.com/8-Deepwater-Koi-Show-Tank-DW8.htm 20mil thick liner.

Which would hold up better being setup for at most six years indoors on solid ground?

I am thinking of using these because while I am going through college and then starting out after with the fisheries biology career this will hopefully ensure my fish can have a proper home while with me.

Thanks for helping me with my research with your opinions and experiences.

Well the thickest liner would be best and the dreampond showtank is .60 mm thick which is alot thicker than the jacksonville one but it is cheaper than the pearls of paradise.... I myself bought a dreampond from a vendor here but the link u have has one at least $100 cheaper:( and with a cover...dangit! But i was supporting a mfk vendor....but the guy i ordered it from was very knowledgeable though

Yah its looking like dreampond is the strongest. I just wish they were as deep as Jacksonvilles.

But would that ten extra inches in depth matter to the fish? (oscars, koi,, large catfish, and odballs).

For a little while. I would get the ten foot if I were you.

I have a jacksonville tank i use for koi, 6 ft wide. With his tank you can go with smaller width, because his tanks are taller than others. He can also make custom drop in liners for plywood tanks. He also does custom fabrication, if you need bulkheads in certain places. I think he is also doing acyrlic windows on his show tanks, you would have to ask.
