It is pretty easy to find a used Backpac skimmer for a tank that size. Saw a fella selling one on my local reef forum for $50 today.

I have a backpac on my 40g & it works fantastic. Why spend $500? Do you have a sump? What are you keeping in your tank?

even upgrading to an 80gallon you can get away with spending less then 500. I have an ASM brand and mines rated for 250 gallons and i spent about 240 bucks on it. I think pufferpunk has the same skimmer actually.
