I have a 75 gallon with a 125 on standby for now. I have a green and gold severum, 3 bichirs, 1 angel fish, a firemouth, and a ropefish.
I want something a small predator fish that swims in the middle or top. I was thinking about a trio of exodens but that might be a lil iffy, or a hujeta gar or silver gar, or a african butterfly fish? Any others that dont grow large?

yea a african butter fly fish would fit perfectly

I would get rid of the angelfish and go with an oddball tank with an AFB aka african butter fly fish..

Agreed

butterfly fish are awesome...so cool to watch them stalk food.
Mine loves crickets, shrimp and floating cichlid pellets haha

If you want a predatory fish that doesn't get too big, try hemichromis elongatus (5 star general). Lightning quick, VERY predatory...but may (and probably will try to) beat the snot out of your other fish.

I'm looking for something a lil different. The butterfly fish is at the top of the list. I'm also considering a gar of some sort or a small pike but not sure what kind...
