Which species are eaten?

Which species are food fish and which are ornamental? Do people keep the edible ones as pets?

You can eat many fish that are kept ornamentally - cichlids (peacock bass, mayan cichlid, tilapia), catfish (iridescent shark, even plecos), barbs, characins (piranha, pacu, hoplias), mastacembelids. Some are quite delicious.

Typically red snakeheads are farmed for food, i haven't heard of any other farmed snakehead. Im sure the other large species get eaten too
