Hello everyone, I've only kept one pike so far a few years back. It was a belly crawler and I ended up loosing him because he got spooked and darted across the tank and ended up breaking his back. :( I really liked him, and now would like to keep one of the larger species pike. From what I've researched it seems that not many species of pikes are captive bred. I personally prefer buying captive bred fish over wild caught whenever I can and I was trying to figure out which (if any) of the pikes are commonly captive bred as it would influence my choice on what species. Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks for the quick reply, I had a feeling most of them were wild caught since I can't even find any for sale that don't say wild caught. How do wild caught pikes adjust to higher ph then they originally came from? My tap water has a pretty high ph compared to the water they would have originally came from and my main concern is how well they would adjust. I've kept many other south American cichlids and other fish in my water long-term and have never had any issues, but as far as I know they were all captive bred which is why I'm concerned about getting any wild caught fish.

I would check with a retailer on the site to see what they have their water parameters at. Its very possible that they have already have been acclimated to a higher ph. Usually a retailer will hold the fish for a few weeks just to let them settle in and deworm them.
