I have my fish in a 30 gallon breeder right now and have a 45 gallon hex set up that I'm ready to move them into. Any opinion on which is better for these fish and if I could actually stock more fish in the 45?

Right now we have
2 Mollies
3 Cardinal Tetras (trying to get my son to give these away)
2 danios and 2 glofish
1 dwarf platy-our cycling fish that never died
1 female and 3 male guppies-all very small
2 dwarf frogs
1 raphael catfish
1 clown pleco
I was hoping to add a few mollies and a few danios or glofish

i wouldn't put any more fish in there....even in the 45 .....ur @ 16 fish already ....the mollys will get a lil bigger as will ur cats and plecs.....i had a 50g tank with 2 barbs, 2 plecos, 2 cory cats, 1 emperor and 1 polypterus and i have upgraded to a 130g :)......cheers and good luck

wha are you using for filtration? is it going over to the 45G if your under filtered now and just transfer it over you are accomplishing nothing. almost all your fish are small so use the inch/gallon rule. the hex tank is fine IMO. also how often you are doing water changes and your wter Parameters. I have had tanks that should have been fine witht the number and size of fish in them that I was having issues with water Parameters. I have also had tanks that where smaller with more fish but where stable and fine. if your planning on adding alot more fish I would be wondering but 5 or 6 more if adequetly filtered will be just fine in the 45

I'm not a fan of the hex tanks. To me, footprint trumps gallonage, and a lot of the volume in a hex tank is because they're usually pretty tall.
