I have my red devil in a 60gal acrylic tank and im upgrading my other 60g to a 100g glass. Now im trying to decide wether or not to leave the RD in his tank or move him to the other 60. The glass tank is wider and longer but not as deep. He will eventually go to a larger tank but in the meantime which is more important width or depth?.

i would say the glass tank is better

the larger the "footprint" the better

Ditto.

I agree. With a larger footprint, you get more surface area for gas exchange resulting in better water quality. When you have identical volumes, always opt for the larger footprint.

Thanks everyone. Glass it is! I think the acryllic makes for a better "spare" tank too as it will be much easier and safer to store.
