Next week I'm going to buy either two 55 gallons or two 40 breeders. These tanks are specifically for a group of Cryptoheros nanoluteus and Cryptoheros panamensis. I have 6 of each species and would like to keep all 6 of each group if possible. The species likely will never mix, these are species tanks. They are probably going to be life long tanks for these groups. If things get crowded or violent in either tank I'll rehome fish as necessary. The main point here is I want to keep these groups in tact if at all possible.
My options are double stacked 40 breeders or double stacked 55's. Please don't say just get 75's or something, these are the only two tank sizes I will be able to get right now. Also, I know that either is enough space for at least a a pair or a few of these fish long term if not the whole groups, especially for the 6 nanoluteus which stay smaller and would probably be fine as a group of 6 in either tank size.
