Which would be a better choice?

So i have a 55 for the time being but i also have a 150 for later on. I have a firemouth, a bichir, and a dempsey. I wanted to get something different so i was thinking about going african. I wanted to put either a frontosa or a buttikoferi. I have a few friends that have larger africans with sa cichlids and so on. Which would be a better choice?

not a good idea. The fronts like hard alkaline water and the buttikoferi will eventually kill everything in the tank

I agree...buttis are way to aggr.

I was just wondering because a few friends of mine have mixed tanks and one has a buttis in with an oscar for over 5 years

each fish has a diff personality, some buttis may be less aggressive, but a majority of them will tear everything apart.

yea from what i've read they seem like a hit or miss fish. Thats why i was thinking about the frontosa cuz i read that they can take a ph of 7.5- high 8's

Ive seen plenty of Buttis mixed with other cichlids. I think as long as you start with a smaller one and be prepared to remove him if he gets agro you should be ok!

Thats what ive learned with fish. So the buttis will work hopefully but the frontosa is a yes, no, or maybe?
