I got a question... which would the following be better::D

2 Rena xp3 Filstar
1 Fluval fx5 Filter
2 Emperor 400 (HOB)
2 AquaClear 110 (HOB)

It will be for my 60 gal tank (i know it's it is an overkill... but $$$ is not the issue):D

Would like to hear comments, experience and suggestion from fellow MFKers. Please don't add other brands or manufacturer, I am trying to narrow down the options.:D

FYI: the 60 gal is filtered by a UGF with a rena 400 air pump, 2x aquaclear 50 powerheads and an xp3 canister filter. ( i am looking into re-doing everything.. and the old xp3 may go to my 180 as an additional filteration).:D

I have 3 XP3's and at this point I want to dump them all. I have had them for 2 years and they work flawlessly but the do come aprt quite a bit. My spray bar just fell of and is laying at the bottom of the tank. they never stay suctioned to the tank wall but they do their job at a low cost investment but are a headache. I opt for the FX5 out of your choices. The Emperor 400 is an awesome filter. I have 2 of them on my 55 with 9 loaches and I love them but I have to replace the filters every 3 weeks, that is the only downfall with them in my opinion. If you dont mind spending $6.00 every 3 weeks then I would go for those. The new ones have 2 stage type filtering but no bio wheel window like the old ones.

with the choices you gave i would myself use the ac 110s if its for light load fish they do a good job of polishing the water and provide good bio filtration.

If you like to see all of your fish pressed against the opposite side of the tank: FX5 :D Seriously, that would be a river biotope.

i heard you there... the main draw back of HOB is the filter cost. if i would go to fx5 i will connect it to my ugf. yup they will kick the fish to one side... but it depends also.. maybe... never tried yet:D do you eman the xp3 falls apart then? wow! need to watch out.;)

Ya all 3 of mine fall apart at the attachments, like the spray bars, the plug that goes in the top so you can aerate, the elbows. Nothing that would create a leak, just the plastic parts after the hoses, even the intake fell off once.
