In a couple of month's time, my nephew will be adopting a juvenile oscar. Which would make a better tank-mate for the oscar? A juvenile Angelfish or a young jewel cichlid? Thanks in advance

Honestly in the long run I don't think either. I'd vote jewel when they were small but grown the angel will be harder to eat.

Hmm oscars are mean fish and have very large mouths. You can have all them in there depends how big your tank is. Anything less than a 75 gallon tank I would say no to any of the above

So their ability to survive depends on the size of the tanks? Additionally, what type of small to medium sized cichlid would be an ideal oscar tank mate? Again, thanks

That's a nice size, gives you lots of choice,

Uaru
More oscars
Severum
Chocolate cichlids
To name a few
