New Shipment of Wild Caught Laps came into the store today, and i had to make the hard decision of which Lap to pick.

There were a few average ones that kept stacking. After staring at the tank for some time i noticed there were two that stood out, one was this curious and affable creature that kept coming to the glass whenever i came near, and then there was this other one with nice contrasting markings but look weak and inactive.

Taking into account that they were just shipped in today. Which would you pick.. the healthy active fish that looked average OR the sickly beauty (well beautiful to me). :D

Guess which one did i picked, photos below.

When it comes to fish, I always pick healthy. Otherwise, you never know what diseases you might be introducing to your tank.

Yes... My Lap looks to be doing poorly.. I think it may die today. I am now regretting not getting the lively fish. I don't know what possessed me to get a sickly fish.

my opinion's slightly on the matter. lots of LPS in my area underfeed btheir fish and many times they're unusually pretty fish. set up like a 20g super filtered growout and set up the "unhealthy" fish in there for a few weeks untill they get better, or die. rescuing fish from LPS can be really rewarding. and i've gotten healthy, ugly fish from some of the LPS and i tend to be quite a perfectionist when it comes to my show tanks. babying the fish and taking a little risk is easier to me than looking at that fat clown knife wishing it was a royal... just my personal opinion. and probably an unusual one. the 20g filter bomb tank helps make sure i dont introduce parasites to your expensive fish; a rick i could never justify.

Although i'd pick friendly over beauty any day.

exoticfish13 >> Thanks for putting into words what i felt the day i picked up the Lap. Plus a little God complex thrown in.

If it the Lap lives it will be staying in the quarantine tank for a couple of months before graduating to the display. :D

your lap not die yet right?

Relax, bro. I believe and hope that it will pull through and make it. If I were there, I might have chosen the same as well. All you can do now is to hope that it will make it make it. Good luck!

Hoping.... doesn't look good. Totally no movement at all... even the breathing is barely noticeable. Don't know why i break my normal rule to pick the biggest, most active beast.
