okay so i have fish and they are scared sh#tless when
i go to feed them or look at them they just run away and
hide
anyone suggest a good way of getting them not to
hide

and sometimes they dont come out for food either....

most of the cichlids I have in the 125 get skittish when the tank light is on, but I'll leave it off to observe them...the room is well lit, so I can see them great and they become much more active

Are you doing regular water changes? This helps tremendessly. Also give them more than enough places to hide. Also use free swimming fast fish to help the skitish out a bit. Any school of any kind of barbs will work well. Case in point. I have a trio of adult geophagus Balzani in my ninety with a 12 inch scarlet pleco. These four fish hid constantly. I do a 30% percent weekly water change and put a scholl of a dozen Aurlis barbs in there. All my fish stay out in the open even my pleco comes out with the lights on!

well it would be nice to know what type of fish. but i would say they just dont see people enough. becuase i put my 55g right beside my computer and everytime i look around i always catch one of my fish just staring at me. and suprisingly the one i catch doin it the most is my ropefish. which a lot of people say its a very skiddish fish and tends to hide a lot. so i would say they prolly dont see u a lot.

filaments work great if you dont have a dither already. worked wonders for me. but like the others said sit by the tank for a while each day. im lucky my tank is in my sitting room next to my pc desk so my fish are always out next to me so they havent had a chance to be shy.

my fish tank is in my room big 6 ft one
im always in my room computers right next to it

7" male rivulatus
5" female rivulatus
8" male jack dempsey
and a

little texas, festae and female jack dempsey about 3"

i see more of the two silver sharks then anything]

and yes tehy have lots of hiding places and regular water changes
