Hello All,

I am posting here after about FIVE years. Work got the better of me and was left with just and outdoor pond. Hope everyone is doing fine!

I recently got myself a 2’ x 1.5’ (W) and 1’ (H) tank and after proper cycling, I added a couple of whip tail catfish. Here are some photographs ( will share tank pics later) :

Lights are basic LEDs, filtration is internal (1500 LPH flow rate), plants are Anubias, ferns and a bunch of Bucephalandra seen in the second pic. I have begun to think that this is the coolest fish I’ve ever kept in the last 15+ years!

I have a couple of questions:

1.) I have kept sturisoma festivum and a red lizard catfish earlier. Though this has similar characteristics, I am unable to ID it properlY. Any help here would be appreciated.
2.) I am feeding them Hikari algae wafers and occasionally some Zuchini pieces (which they devour). Any other food you guys recommend?

Cheers!

Karthik

Hi, welcome back.
Am no real expert on whiptails and there are that many types but, IMO I think they are a type of Rineloricaria the same as the red lizards you had before, but which I am not certain. Was thinking R.Microlepidogaster but there are that many types yet unlisted/un photo'd they could be one of those.
