I bought two whiptail catfish at an auction today, they're about 4" each. I was planning to put them in my planted 75 gallon with some loaches and community fish, or they could go in my unheated Gymnogeophagus tank. I read they like cooler water, so should I stick them in the gymno tank instead? It's about 70F.

thanks

just my 2cents...I have a small dwarf royal whiptail and a large royal whiptail in my community unheated 125g. The tank is room temp, at 72*. They do just fine...I a strange arrayment of fish in that tank, including clown loaches, goldfish, and such. They all live in harmony and do just fine at that temp for quite a long time

I breed sturisoma and mine prefer higher temps, 28-30 deg C

however the loach might be too boisterous for them, they are very shy quiet fish and prefer lazy tank mates

mine used to be in with 3 manic polka-dot loaches, they are now a lot happier in their species tank
