Whirling disease info

I just euthanized my raphael catfish because he had a very bad case of the whirling disease, and from what i know there tails tend to get red when they have it and it is contagious. i have a senegal bircher and a para pleco in the tank now and im hoping they dont catch it. What can i do to prevent this? thanks
