I just adopted a silver arow who's whiskers are falling off at the lip line from hitting the glass to much. Will they heal now that he is in a bigger tank? And my lfs guy says that once the whiskers fall of that the fish usually doesnt' fair to well afterward. Is this true? He was in a 75 now in a 220. ( I am prepared to build indoor pond this yr)He's 19-20 inch currently.

Keep that water clean and offer a good varied diet and that bad boy will be bad once again. Maybe salt will help heal him quicker?

It took about a week to get her to eat but she eats good. The guy I got her from fed her real good but she outgrew his tank. She eats Hikari sticks as a staple, with the occational shrimp, superworms, crickets, mollie's (bred by me) frozen (rinsed)fish.

Just give good clean water and u r good to go.... My silver damaged his whiskers once when he got startled... It grew back but now he actually has one split whisker... Kinda V on the tip more like a snake...

It should be fine.. The barbels will grow back but they do use them to hunt though..
If you say it's eating fine, then there's nothing to worry..

Thank you all for your help. I was worried he wouldn't get them back if they came off. They are only hanging on by a small piece of meat. I am glad to hear they will grow back if they do come off.

I thought i would post an upsade. The arow is doing great and his whiskers held in and i believe they are going to stay. They look reatached already. They no longer bend over when he touches the glass. Being in the bigger tank has stopped him from hitting the glass. Thank you everyone for your help.
