Whisper Filter Cartridges

Hey Guys

Where do you get your filter cartridges from? The Petcos and PetSmarts around me want about $2.50/cartridge, even in those bulk deals. I need probably 8 large ones but I don't want to pay that rediculous price.

I just buy filter material, and stuff it in the two 30-60's I have. Keeps the water crystal clear. I bought a bag of quilt batting from the crafts section at walmart and that worked too. I think it was like 2.99.

I dont see a need for carbon unless the tank has been medicated or any chemical additives have a presence in it. I stear clear of chemicals tho and usually dont have a need for any chemical filtration. I do have a can of activated carbon and a media bag in the event I need it.

I usually end up getting the multi-packs of bio-bags, but have tried using something like polyfil instead to save money. prefer the bio-bags, although I never add the carbon.
