Neither AquaClear

I prefer biowheel filters, I hate Aquaclears.

Either is better than a whisper for overall filtration.

Biowheel is better than whisper, AC FTW.

Oh boy one shall not say what he/she cannot take back :nilly: joking it's your opinion but I love Aquaclears. The biowheels are great too. Whisper is a pile of garbage sitting on a tank. Now the real question is do like garbage or quality filters?

I like Whispers, i love AC's more, but there is no way you can say that a Whisper is a pile of garbage.

They are cheap, easy to find and buy(walmart) No special filter cartridges to buy and they hook up easily onto a Hydro sponge. They also have way better flow adjustments than any AC i have every owned.

Saying that if i were walking down the street with 30 bucks and a guy wants to sell me an AC110 or a Whisper, you bet id take that AC.

Why do people say Biowheel filters? Couldint you say Emp, or Penguin or any other make/model with a biowheel. Theres some differences between a emp and penguin, and a penguin and Magnum H.O.T and the Aquclears people modify to accommodate a Biowheel.

It's just my experience with the whispers. I have not had one that lasted more than a year and a half. It's like Marineland Magnum filters many people don't like them but I think they are great filters. So now for HOB's I go AC or EMP's.

Would not recommend a whisper to anyone, low quality and bad design.

For the money the best filter for your tank would be a penguin 350. You can get online for 36.99, but do go on sale for 29.99. The Emporer 400 you get a little more water flow and extra media chambers, but not needed for your 30g and costs 50 bucks. Aqua clear are great filters, but a little more maintainence required then the penguin, The AC110 is a little much for a 30g and cost 63.99 where as the AC70 would be more fitted to a 30g and costs about 42 bucks.

Another thing to consider is the Penguin will require you buy replacement filter cartridges, 12 bucks for a 6 month supply. The AC filters have a large sponge that will require at least a monthly rinsing/cleaning but not cartridges to buy.

Whisper is good for mech filtration, otherwise, garbage.
