So i finally got my 125 running. 2 smal bluegills are starting the cycle. ANyhoo, I am using air valves on my standpipes to adjust the water level. Problem is that I get that very annoying whistling from the valves. Its just that pitch that you notice over everything else. The mag 12 is pretty quiet. I def coulda got away with a Mag 9.5 bc when I have the pump open full bore the drains make this gurgling sound at the output side before the W/D.

Either way, how do you get rid of the whistle. I can get new caps and redrill or do whatever!!!

Thanks!

Trash the valves. Get several caps and drill a small hole in one. Keep making the hole larger until you get the right size hole. If you make the hole too big, get another cap and try again. You'll know when the hole is the right size, you can run your returns wide open without having the flushing effect in your drains. You'll be able to have a stable water level in the boxes. It's just trial and error until you get it right. On some tanks, it's taken me hours to get it perfect.

yeah i dumped the valves. i needed some tiny holes to get it right but now I run trh mag12 full bore with no problem. those air valves are a dumb idea. durso should take em off his site
