Noticed 1 of my pups passing out this white and tough stringy poo. and it has not been eating well since then. first started about 4 days ago.
Initially thought it was a NO3 problem as my readings were above 100ppm. managed to bring it down to 50ppm and maintaining it there for 2 days.

Pup is still not eating very well. just bits and pcs here and there. doesnt gobble up food like he used to.

below are some pixs of the stringy poo. could it be some other problem other than the NO3?

He is a captive bred ray.

He is in a 300G with 3 other 12" rays. water readings are as follows:

ammonia: 0
NO2: 0
NO3 : 50ppm ( was above 100ppm until this problem happened)
PH: 7

What are you feeding it?

My guess is ghost shrimp perhaps?

Im feeding him chopped shrimps without shell for now but he doesnt quite like it after his appetite started reducing. now feeding him tubifex worms. at least hes feeding a little on them.

How old is the pup. I've seen this come from my new born pups before. It's usually a day after they are born. I would try feeding it blood worms. It's probably not a good idea to keep it with 12" rays. They're probably stressing it out. Good luck.

agreed. get him his own tank and try black worms

I had the same thing on my male retic pup, I hate to say it but about 2 weeks after that came out he died.

Any update?
