Hey guys,

I have my 30gallon for about 3-4 weeks, currently cycling with a some feeders...

Anyhoo, I started to notice white bubbles on top of the bank and filter...afterwards, when I went to do my water change, the white bubbles stayed onto the glass, and the filter. I used a papertowel to wipe it off...

Right now, just after completing the water change, the bubbles are non-existent, but I am sure they will show up tomorrow.

I have posted before about the bubbles, and somebody said they are harmless as they are oxygen bubbles...Anybody has any opinion? I am just making sure...

FYI, I have an Emperor 280 filter...

Many thanks

It could be a thin layer of lipid protein that has surrounded some bubbles. This isn't really an issue, just clean it up. If it isn't a thin slimey film, then it probably just little air bubbles from cascading water from a filter/water change/or splashing. It doesn't sound like it's a problem. Keep an eye on film though.

Are you referring to bubbles on the water surface that tend to collect in the corners and on the glass. It almost looks like a layer of soap bubbles? If so, I'm pretty sure its normal in the early stages of cycling. I've experienced these bubbles a couple of times in the past.

I think he meant a very thin layer of 'film' on the top the of the water. Kinda like how in some salad dressings, they look layered if you don't shake them. If there is some sort of film/residue on the surface of your water, it could possibly be from soap if you used any cleaning it beforehand. Or even if you washed your hands with soap, then put your hand in the tank and hadn't gotten all of the soap off. I wouldn't think air bubbles would be able to stay at the top without popping if they didn't have something to hold them together, like residue left over from something else.

I do think its residue from something else, but I doubt its soap; I always rinse my hands all the way to shoulder (if necessary) with hot steamy water, nothing else...

Regardless, as of now the residue is gone...but i bet tomorrow it will pop again...If it was soap, it would have shown by now...
